“I was very saddened to learn today of the tragic passing of the Honourable Jack Layton, MP.

I would like to express my deepest sympathies to my Parliamentary colleague, Olivia Chow, MP., and to Mr. Layton’s family, friends and many supporters and admirers across Canada.

Jack Layton was a thoroughly decent man, a very effective Parliamentarian and a passionate and honourable public servant and leader.

His courageous battle against this dreadful disease of Cancer was an inspiration to me and all Canadians.

Canada has lost a great Citizen and we will all miss him.”
